Hannah joined 5RB in October 2023 upon successful completion of pupillage. She accepts instructions across all areas of Chambers’ practice, including defamation, privacy, information law, harassment and data protection.
During pupillage, Hannah’s supervisors were Jonathan Scherbel-Ball, Jacob Dean, Kate Wilson and Chloe Strong. Hannah also spent time working at the Times and the BBC. Cases with which Hannah assisted during pupillage include:
- Taylor & Ors v Evans (As representative of the Labour Party) [2023] EWHC 935 (KB): anonymity, unless order and an application for a declaration on privilege.
- Evans v McMahon (2023) unreported: trial of preliminary issues on meaning, fact or opinion and whether the words complained of were defamatory at common law.
- McGee v Lewis [2023] EWHC 1813 (KB): default judgment application.
Prior to joining 5RB, Hannah worked as a paralegal at a leading media law firm and as a visiting lecturer in tort law at City, University of London.
