Former MP Andrew Bridgen has brought libel proceedings against former Health Secretary, Matt Hancock over a Tweet posted in January 2023. Today, Collins Rice J will hear Mr Hancock’s application for summary judgment which he seeks on the basis that the Claimant has no realistic prospect of establishing serious harm and that the defence of honest opinion is bound to succeed. Aidan Eardley KC acts for Mr Hancock, instructed by RPC.
